Second, "a finger...First, YESSS, you are back. Second, "a finger will never swell to accommodate a nine pound fetus" is everything. Third, all of the questions here are like you scooped them directly out of my brain and organized them into a logical fashion. So thank you for all three!

Lately I've been doing a lot of "social purchasing"... Like a lot a lot. Just making shopping carts and bookmark folders and re-Tumbling everything I like in online stores, along with random "needs" I create after seeing a trend or beautiful product somewhere. Sometimes I'll even do price comparisons and check sizing, but I never actually buy, since I'm only doing thrifted/eBayed clothes this year.

The weird thing is... It's worked! Just pretending I have some random purse for a couple of weeks satisfies the need to own it. It's also causing me to change shopping habits elsewhere, too. The other night I could have sworn I ordered a few beauty products, but must have forgotten to actually ever confirm it, since there's no evidence of the order anywhere. Bizarre, right? I ended up deciding I shouldn't have ordered the whole lot, anyway, so again the voyeury social purchasing worked, even when I didn't mean to do it.

The question of supporting designers and art is also a good one. In a lot of ways the connection between the two reminds me of enjoying art in museums for little or no money, and you walk away owning only photos and memories and inspiration from what you see, versus buying everything to enjoy it. Maybe taking on fashion in a similar... fashion... could be a healthier approach to the whole bit?
Jess | Rose & Fighttp://www.roseandfig.comnoreply@blogger.com
